Being a part of French territory, the island of Martinique has a 1080 km2 surface, reaches the maximum length of 80 km and a maximum width of 39 km.
The capital is Fort-of-France. Known as "island of flowers", it has, on its north side, abundant vegetation and, on the south side, paradisiacal beaches.
Despite being compared to many cities, such as Paris , the island is agitated by the hot rhythms of the Caribbean, mixed with the cultural diversity that the island offers with its multiplicity of museums, with the enormous contribute of Paul Gauguin, who found the peace of Martinique its shelter and inspiration.
Its main product is the banana, being impossible not to notice the extensive areas of culture of this fruit, delight of the visitors.
Its cuisine is very rich, mainly because it's a mixture of the most diverse civilizations: African, European, Asian, Indian and American.
